Westmont Magazine A Shirley Scholarship
In loving memory of his wife of 58 years, Perry Shirley has created the Perry and Margaret Shirley Endowed Scholarship Fund to help sophomores, juniors, and seniors who otherwise couldn’t afford to continue attending Westmont. Students will begin benefiting from this scholarship next fall. At the age of 16, Margaret had to quit school to go to work and help support her family. Her inability to complete her education created a lifetime heartache. Perry graduated from high school, became a carpenter, and built a successful building contracting business with Margaret at his side. “We would like to share the fruits of the Lord’s blessings with students in need of financial assistance, knowing that we help future Christian leaders,” he explains.
