Westmont Magazine A Soggy Start

After the destructive January rainstorm subsided, roads reopened and students, faculty and staff stranded by the closure of the 101 freeway were able to return to campus. Students displaced by flooding moved back into their rooms after two weeks of temporary lodging. But the downpour left a lasting scar on campus: the loss of several venerable trees, including the ancient oak that stood between the Art Center and Deane Hall. A spruce on Kerrwood Circle also fell.
