Westmont Magazine Spring Sports Scores
Men’s tennis tied for first in the GSAC regular season and won the GSAC finals. They placed ninth as a team in the NAIA national tournament, and the doubles team of All-Americans Riva da Silva and Ashley Fickel competed in the finals.
Seven track and field athletes qualified for the national tournament: Sandra Clark (javelin); Todd Farrington (10,000m); Anika Gustaf-son (1500m); Philip Livingood (3000m); Sarah Naylor (400m); Matt Nealon (1500m); and Miriam Niednagel (3000m).
The Warrior baseball team ended the season 20-22 and lost to Pt. Loma in the GSAC playoffs. Head coach John Kirkgard has resigned after 12 years at Westmont and a win-loss record of 252-267. Bret Biegert, the Warrior assistant coach for the past two years, will replace him.
Women’s tennis tied for second in the GSAC regular season and placed third in the GSAC finals.
The women’s lacrosse club team qualified for the play-offs for the first time in their five-year history.
