Student Spotlight Becky Collier

Becky Collier ’17, a two-time NAIA National Champion in the outdoor heptathlon, National Champion in the high jump and a 15-time NAIA All-American, says Westmont is pretty perfect. She received elite athletic training at a Christian school with strong academics.

“I feel like I learn more about myself and the Lord when I compete,” she says. “I keep running and jumping and doing the things that are fun but also glorify Him athletically.”

She developed her own major—social entrepreneurship—and appreciates the power of business to make a difference. She witnessed this firsthand during a spring break in Haiti helping people start their own small businesses.

As captain of the track and field team, Becky developed leadership skills at Westmont. “I’ve gained a new confidence and discovered I can be good leader,” she says.

“I came to Westmont for track and field, but all these academic opportunities have been much more transformative. I have a new passion for learning—and I’m not done learning. I’ve been growing a lot spiritually.”

The Riverside, California, native is currently training with the Santa Barbara Track Club as an elite-level athlete. “I want to enter a career where I am the best version of myself and reveal God’s glory,” she says.
