Westmont Magazine Successful Events Boost Campaign

Alumni, parents and friends throughout the country have pushed the Bright Hope for Tomorrow campaign closer to its $102 million goal

After nearly a year and more than 50 events nationwide, the Bright Hope for Tomorrow campaign continues to make good progress. Since April 2010, Westmont has nearly $19 million for a total of $81 million toward the $102 million goal.

“Despite the challenges of raising money in the current economic climate, we have confidence in God’s provision,” says Reed Sheard, vice president for advancement and chief information officer. “Hearing from students and professors about the joys of studying and working in the new buildings has been so inspiring. We know these facilities are very effective tools for providing Westmont’s transformative educational experience, and we can’t imagine how we ever did without them.”

The latest major Bright Hope for Tomorrow regional dinner took place in Washington, D.C., March 12 (see photos). More than 90 alumni, parents and friends of the college enjoyed the reception and dinner at the historic Willard Hotel, making it the largest Westmont event ever in the area. The alumni who attended spanned six decades at the college.

A series of dinners and lunches will continue throughout the country as the college seeks smaller venues to meet with people interested in investing in its distinctive mission. The drive funds impressive new facilities on campus: Adams Center for the Visual Arts, Winter Hall for Science and Mathematics, new athletic fields for our baseball, soccer and track and field teams, and the new Westmont observatory, home of the Keck Telescope.
