Westmont Magazine A Survival Guide
The author of a book in progress, “Surviving Your 20s,” Sara Sullivan ’97 seems to be surviving just fine. One of 10 Pew Younger Scholars Fellows to receive a $39,000, three-year award for Ph.D. studies at a top-ranked university, she competed with 100 others for the prestigious fellowship.
Sara is applying to Ph.D. programs in English literature at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, as well as at New York University and Boston University. Her primary interest is studying Irish literature.
Currently she works for The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm, and lives in Washington, D.C. The job takes her to Europe, and she works closely with the office of former President George Bush. “I love Washington and recommend moving to a big city after graduating,” she says.
An English major and communication studies minor, Sara is interested in teaching, editing, and travel writing. “My ultimate goal is to write for The New Yorker, my favorite magazine,” she confides.
