Westmont Magazine Taking Home the Gold

Thanks to the generosity of Peter and Gerd Jordano, Santa Barbara residents and Friends of Westmont, the Warrior sports program honored 11 scholar-athletes at the Golden Eagle awards banquet in April. To qualify for this covered annual award, they needed at least a 3.2 grade point average and support from their coaches. They included:

Paul Ashby (senior chemistry major), men’s cross country; Jon Crabb (sophomore chemistry/physics major), baseball; Matt Genasci (senior English major), men’s track and field; Jennifer Hackworth (junior kinesiology major), women’s track and field; Ben Hook (sophomore philosophy major), men’s soccer; Michelle Howell (junior biology major), women’s tennis; Heather Marshall (senior chemistry major), women’s soccer; Jedd Medefind (junior communication studies/business major), basketball; Miriam Niednagel (junior history major), women’s cross country; Susan Rhea (junior English major), volleyball; and Don Sirbuly (sophomore chemistry major), men’s tennis.

Miriam Niednagel and Jedd Medefind also received Ring Awards for achieving the highest grade point average.
