Westmont Magazine Taking the Show on the Road
Colette Vines Meredith ’76, her husband, Bart, and their two sons, hit the road last year for an extended journey. She writes:
“We’ve been on a 16-month adventure traveling in our 32’ motor home visiting 47 states (we missed Kansas). We homeschool the kids, so the field trips were awesome—from the Grand Canyon and the Oklahoma City bombing site to Branson and the Rockettes; from New Orleans and Disney World to the everglades and snorkeling in the Keys.
“We spent Easter at Dr. D. J. Kennedy’s church and witnessed an actual space shuttle launch on April 4, 1997. We sat in a Sunday school class with President Jimmy Carter, dodged various tornadoes, and toured East Coast history. Our Christmas letter was four pages long, and I hope to write a book about how God led and blessed us throughout our adventures.
“We are so proud of our two wonderful sons: Cameron, 16, will be getting his driver’s license soon and plans to attend Columbia, a junior college, next year. Royce, 13, is an electronics fan and can take apart and put together just about anything.
“We have loved Sonora, California, for a long time, so after living in Santa Ynez for 10 years, we sold our home and moved there. We believe the Lord has led us to our little Sierra hide away! We get snow sometimes, and we’re only 30 minutes from good skiing.
“The Lord has His hand in our today and our tomorrow. Jeremiah 29:11 and Matthew 7:7, among others, have been very dear to our hearts.”
