Westmont Magazine Thankful for Faithfulness

‘Westmont chose ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’ as its college hymn out of gratitude to God for his great faithfulness during our 65-year history.
With the remarkable success of the Embracing the Past, Ensuring the Future Capital Campaign, we also give thanks for the great faithfulness of our alumni, parents and friends. They joined together to support this five-year effort and help us raise more than $57 million for two buildings, endowment, essential college programs and the Westmont Fund.

These gifts will make a dramatic difference for Westmont. Not only will they change the face of the campus with two splendid new facilities for  the visual arts and the sciences, but they will change our community by enhancing our ability to recruit and retain those with the highest possible academic qualifications.

With the Campaign for Westmont, we have taken the next step in cementing our reputation as an academically rigorous liberal arts college rooted in Christ. We have begun the final phase of completing our campus and realizing the vision of our founders for the finest possible Christian institution.

We still have much work ahead. Additional buildings, including a new residence hall and a second academic center, will provide facilities comparable to our high-quality program. Expanding our library and student center will enhance the ethos on campus and better support our outstanding students. These are challenges for the future.

But our greatest task is growing our endowment to provide an adequate financial base for our program and sufficient scholarship assistance for worthy students. I’m excited that the campaign more than tripled our endowment in five years.

I want to pay special tribute to the tremendous leadership of Chancellor David Winter, whose vision and commitment contributed so greatly to the campaign’s success. As president, he played a pivotal role in the five-year drive.

Thank you for your support for Westmont during the campaign — and in the years to come.”
