Westmont Magazine Updating the Plan
Five years and nearly $2 million after Westmont completed an application to update its campus master plan, Santa Barbara county will finally release a draft Environmental Impact Report on the project and hold public hearings. Westmont was not required to conduct an EIR but did so anyway to study possible impacts thoroughly.
While the long approval process has been costly, it has led to improvements such as better traffic flow, increased fire safety and more appropriate sites for several buildings.
Once the county approves the updated plan, Westmont will break ground on a new art center and a building for the sciences.
