Westmont Magazine Wallace Emerson Society
Although he retired from full-time ministry in 1990, Joe Stephens ’46 still preaches and officiates at weddings and funerals. He and his wife, Doris, remain actively involved in the life of their church as well as in the lives of their three sons and six grandchildren. An ordained Presbyterian minister for 48 years, Joe served congregations in Los Angeles and Glendale before becoming the senior pastor at San Clemente Presbyterian Church and later at First Presbyterian in Tacoma, Wash. The Stephens belong to the Wallace Emerson Society because they have made a provision in their living trust for Westmont. “This trust is an answer to prayer because it allows us to support important ministries like Westmont rather than sending money to the government,” Joe explains. “The Lord has given us above and beyond what we need, and we’re privileged to share what we have.”
