Westmont, which has led during the fall championship season, finished the fall in first place for the NAIA Sears Directors’ Cup, presented by the nation’s athletics directors.
The Warriors scored in four sports and claimed the title in women’s soccer. The Warriors also placed third in women’s volleyball, 12th in women’s cross country and 28th in men’s soccer to tally 255 points.
The Sears Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. It is administered by NACDA and sponsored by Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Following in second place is Hastings (Neb.) with 229.5 points. Rounding out the top five are Azusa Pacific (Cal.), third with 214 points; Malone (Ohio), fourth with 207.5 points; and California Baptist, fifth with 200.5 points.
The final fall standings include the sports of women and men’s cross country; football; women and men’s soccer; and women’s volleyball.
